WeDO - Wellbeing and dignity for older people
The project aims at enabling all interested stakeholders to discuss, exchange experiences and good practice both at national and EU level, and to develop together a pro-active approach to elder care based on commonly agreed fundamental principles. Within the project a voluntary European Quality Framework for Long-Term Care in institutional, community and home care settings will be developed.

MILCEA - Monitoring in Long-Term Care. Pilot Project onn Elder Abuse
Although there are a number of institutions in European countries, getting in contact with older people, there is no institution with a clear instruction and self conception to prevent and recognize elder abuse. Further there is no network between them in terms of a monitoring system. This is where the work of MILCEA begins, a project composed of 5 European countries, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Luxemburg and Austria. Key question is, how existing structures in participating countries look like and how these structures can be used.

Eustacea - A European Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse
AGE is working on a project with a network of 11 partner organisations to develop a  European Charter on the rights of older people, and women in particular, who are dependent on a family member or carer, or are need of long-term care or assistance and an accompanying Guide or ‘toolkit’ addressing each of the rights expressed in the Charter, explaining what they concretely mean and how they can be enforced.

EuROPEAN
The Final Background and Position Paper of the EuROPean project gives a deep insight in elder abuse on an international level and on the level of the participating countries. It points out several areas that need particular attention in future prevention methods and research.

AVOW
AVOW is a research project which aims to demonstrate on the one hand the prevalence of violence against older women in the home setting and on the other hand patterns of violence and develop a tool for harmonized and comparable surveying. The results of this research can help in the planning of support services fort he victims of violence as well as in the development of preventive measures.

IPVOW - Intimate Partner Violence against older Women
The study – financed under DAPHNE III Programme - addresses the question to what extent women aged sixty or above experience violence by partners or ex-partners (intimate partner violence), what kind of help and support they seek and receive and what kind of support they need. Up to now, little is known about older female victims of intimate partner violence and the help they require and this research will help to address that gap in our knowledge.

Pro Train-Daphne II
The Daphne project „Pro Train“ aims to support organisations that develop measures and actions to prevent or to combat all types of violence against children, young people and women and to protect the victims and groups at-risk. Thus it also aims to strengthen violence prevention by developing a multi-sectoral training programm.

Prevention of Violence against Women and Children – Training,
Sensibilisation of Professional Groups in the Framework of WAVE
The project focused on the prevention of violence against women through the publication of a training manual and brochures on prevention of domestic violence against women in Europe, including a European Survey and Good Practice Models. It consisted of a training programme aimed at enhancing the understanding of law enforcement, judicial, medical and psycho-social professionals on violence against women; and produced a publication on prevention of domestic violence against women in Europe, including a European Survey and Good Practice Models.

Discussing Screening for Elder Abuse at Primary Health Care level
This paper presents a critical review of the literature, discusses what is needed in order to advance knowledge by Primary Health Care (PHC) workers about elder abuse and makes recommendations about detection as a first step for the management and prevention of elder abuse.

ABUEL
ABUEL is a project that aims to prevent elder abuse and neglect in Italy. After pointing out the findings of the research, initiatives were developed to prevent elder abuse and neglect. Recently they improved the access to elder care services, established legal protection of cognitively frail elderly and assured the monitoring of frail older people during heat waves.

Daphne Toolkit
The Daphne Toolkit is both an archive of projects supported by the European
Commission‘s Daphne Programme and an active resource for those planning new projects in this field. Presentations of about 460 projects with descriptions of their objectives, actions, results and the lessons learned as well as related links and resources can be found.

Care for Carers
The project aimed to exchange good practices on the prevention of hidden violence by women caregivers against older women suffering from Alzheimers’ disease Results were good practice guidelines, the adaptation and translation of the Italian Caregiver Manual‘ in three languages and the dissemination at European level.

Recognition, Prevention and Treatment of Abuse of Older Women
This project aimed to define the nature of the problem of violence/abuse of older women – particularly those with cognitive impairment – in four Member States of the European Union. The project further reviewed legislative frameworks relating to this issue and responses by social actors in the four partner states. Finally, good practice examples were identified and findings from these were shared.

Development and Testing of a Module Concerning the Role of
Health Care Providers in Assessment and Intervention of Intimate
Partner Violence (IPV)

This Daphne-project aimed to develop a training module for future physicians in order to improve their knowledge, reinforce their skills in addressing and dealing efficiently with victims of abuse.
