Trainer handbook

Within the project Breaking the Taboo Two a training handbook was developed, which aims are to:

  • Provide a training course for staff members, to raise their awareness of violence against older women within families and anable them to act accordingly
  • Provide potential trainers with all the necessary information to run the course
  • Give an overview of the relevant topics
  • Provide potential trainers with concrete methods and exercises
  • Give tips/hints/advice on things to keep in mind

The handbook provides a two-day training course for health and social service staff memebers who work in older people's own homes, and is desigend to help them to recognize violence against older women within families and to take action.

The handbook is geared towards potential trainers on this course and provides them with background information, content and methods and tools for running the workshop.

Parts of the handbook were also tested at a joint trans-national workshop in Maribor with 30 participants from partner countries and particpants run then 1-2 training courses for staff in their own country.

Additionally the handbook also contains guidelines for people in organizations who might be potential contact persons on violence against older women.

The training handbook is available as CD-Rom in English, German (for Austria and for Germany), Dutch, Bulgarian, Portuguese and Slovenian and can be ordered from partners.
